Freedom and Roam Uganda (FARUG) is a Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LBTI) organization which was established in 2003 by a group of fully fledged lesbians who were constantly harassed, insulted and discriminated by a misinformed society and who were touched by the plight of their sisters and brothers of the same sex orientation.
Over the years, FARUG has achieved a tremendous growth both in membership and structure and there has been a shift in the areas of work to suit the present political and social atmosphere, thus the need for a new vision and mission to capture these changes.
On 22nd -23 March 2012, members of FARUG, during the Ji-sort workshop, deliberated and eventually adapted new Vision, Mission and Core values. These were further re-affirmed during the five years strategic planning workshop of 30th-3rd May.
FARUG was established on passion and an urgency to address the challenges of, especially lesbians in their pursuit for attainment of full, equal rights. The issues of bisexuality and transgender have become more pronounced now and FARUG is at center stage in addressing these issues with desks (Bisexual and Transgender desks) in place to specifically address them.
In order to streamline and harmonize the current challenges with FARUG’s existence, we came up with new Vision, Mission and Core values.
We hereby present to you the new Vision, Mission and Core Values.
