Thapedo Makutle, 23, a volunteer at LEGBO Northern cape and NC NGO coalition, in Kuruman country in Gaetsiwe district, SA, was beheaded on Sunday after an argument with his murders over his sexuality and issues of homosexuality.
His assailants followed him to his house, after the argument, where they slit his throat and beheaded him, leaving him under the blanket like he was still alive.
Thapedo aka Queen Bling, was both a Trans gendre and gay man. He was also a beauty queen and known to be well mannered and principled.
There have been no arrests yet in connection with the murder. His funeral will be held on Saturday in Kurumah
Preparations are being made for an awareness campaign around this issue, slated Friday by LEGBO and partners.
We at Freedom and Roam Uganda will hold a vigil in memory of Thapedo, on Friday -15th June 2012 at 04:00pm. We call upon all FARUG members and the entire LGBTI community in Uganda, to come and join us celebrate the life of Thapedo.
